Obituary of Joao D. Andrade

Joao (John) D. Andrade age 90, of Trumbull died peacefully on Wednesday, January 07, 2009 at the Jewish Home for the Elderly, Fairfield. Born on October 13, 1918 in the Madeira Islands, Portugal he was a son of the late Joao and Maria Andrade. A mason by trade, he also was a Duck Tile Iron Foundry worker for many years. Joao enjoyed working in his garden and making his homemade wine, but he truly enjoyed the time he spent with his family. He especially was at his best when he was with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Maria Jardim Andrade, three children, Manuel Andrade and his wife Rosa of Trumbull, Polly Ann Teixeira and her husband Armando of Trumbull, Mary Lucille Gouveia and her husband Joseph of Wallingford, six grandchildren, Lisa Salgado, Ann Marie Holinko, Bryan and David Teixeira and Amanda and Allison Gouveia, four great grandchildren, Acacio and Felecia Salgado and Jarod and Jacob Teixeira as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral Services will take place on Friday January 9, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends and relatives may call on Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.
