Obituary of William A. Gnandt
William A. Gnandt, Jr., age 73, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 7, 2009 in Branford, CT at The Connecticut Hospice. Bill was born to beloved parents William and Mary Gnandt, Sr. on January 11, 1936 in Bronx, New York.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rita Gagne-Gnandt of Trumbull, his children Gina Manoni and her husband Douglas, Lisa Gnandt, and Gregory Gnandt and his fiance Ginger Bochiccihio, as well as his brother Richard J. Gnandt and his sister Anne Marie Sutay. He was predeceased by his oldest son, William Billy Gnandt III. He has six loving grandchildren, John Manoni, Nicholas Manoni, Justin Manoni, Marisa Gnandt, Neil Gnandt-Ralston, Kyle Gnandt and several nieces and nephews.
Bill grew up in Fairfield, CT and graduated from Bullard Havens Technical School. After serving in the United States Army Engineers he attended Fairfield University and the University of New Haven. His professional career as an electrical engineer spanned over 30 years and included stints with Hughes Corporation, AVCO Lycoming, Bunker Ramo and CASCO Products. More recently Bill founded his own electrical engineering company where he worked until very recently. He was a member of the Free Masons, Fidelity-St. Johns Lodge #3, and a 32nd degree with Lafayette Consistory. He also served as a contributing member of the Pyramid Shriners.
Bill will be interred at Oaklawn Cemetery in Fairfield in a private service.
