Obituary of Gasper Cataldo

Fairfield Firefighter Gasper Cataldo, 85, was born in Fairfield CT on December 15, 1921 and passed to the afterlife on the evening of November 22, 2007. As a youth, Gasper attended the Fairfield Public School system. In 1942 he enlisted to the US Marine Corp and served with the 3rd Amphibious Corp, 6th Marine Division in the Pacific Theatre and participated in the Invasion of Okinawa. After Gasper's honorable discharged as a Corporal in 1946, he returned to work for Fairfield as a Firefighter for 30 years. In retirement, his involvement with social and charitable organizations included, the American Legion - Lt Owen Fish Memorial Post 143, Knights of Columbus Council 2616, Bridgeport Area Retired Firefighters, M.A.L.E.S, International Association of Firefighters, Germania Schwaben Society, Inc., Germania Schwaben Seniors, CT Burns Care Foundation Support Team, Italian Scholarship Committee of the University of Bridgeport, Disabled American Veterans, and the VFW Post 9460. Gasper was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa Cataldo; mother, Pietrina Vento Cataldo, father, Anthony Cataldo, and siblings Joseph, Marion, and John. His surviving family members include his wife of 60 years, Adeline Cataldo of Fairfield, his son, Gregory of Scarborough, Maine, grandchildren Tyler of Dillon, CO, Brian of Portland, ME, and Leigh and great granddaughter, Adeline Ernst of San Diego, CA. Gasper loved his family and his strength, compassion, and willingness to give a helping hand will be remembered by friends and family. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday, November 26, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Fairfield for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.
