Obituary of Stephen P. Cassidy

Stephen P. Cassidy Jr., age 68, died on Sunday, June 5, 2005 at CT Hospice, Branford. Born in Bridgeport, and presently of Jensen Beach, FL, he retired from the Bridgeport Police Department after serving 21 years with distinction. Mr Cassidy received numerous commendations and was a liaison with DEA for 12 years. He was a past president of the Patrolmans Association, a member of the Polices Retirees Association, the Police Mutual Benefit Association, Police Sick Benefit Association and the Police Federal Credit Union. He was active in his community and was a member of the CT and FL Police Benevolent Association as well as the American Legion, AM VETS and Moose Club #1690.

He was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Patricia Cassidy.

Survivors include his beloved parents, retired Bridgeport Police Officer, Stephen P. Cassidy Sr. and Philomena Cassidy of Bridgeport, CT, his former wife, Karen F. Cassidy of Melbourne, FL, his devoted children, retired police officer Philomena Cassidy and her fiance, Larry Valleta of Naugatuck, CT, Stephen P. Cassidy III of California, Debra Cassidy and her loving companion, Tom Murphy of Shelton, CT, Janine Abbott of Milford, CT and her husband Michael Mangan of Corpus Christi, TX, and Jonna Cassidy and Annie Cassidy of Melbourne, FL, a sister, Loretta Walser of Monroe, a brother, Robert Cassidy Sr and his wife Mary Jane of North Carolina , grandhildren, Megan and Erec Lawrie both of Milford,CT, Melissa Lula of Naugatuck, CT, Melinda Lula of Milford, CT, Stephanie Cassidy of Port St. Lucie, FL, Marissa Lula of Naugatuck, CT, Stephen Patrick Cassidy, Stephen Paul Cassidy IV and Brandon Cassidy, all of Bridgeport, Jake and Amanda Abbott of Milford, CT and Patrick and Patricia Jones of Shelton, CT, great granddaughter, Nina Marie Javier of Milford, CT and grateful friends, Ray Weiner and Annie Allen of Milford, CT, Lt. Thomas Lula of the Bridgeport Police Department, Cheech Piazza of Jensen Beach, FL, Joseph Carter, Michael Fischer , Edward Ewaskewich and numerous other friends, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at 9:30am from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:30 am in St. Augustine Cathedral, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery , Stratford. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
