Obituary of Joseph Robert Caserta

Owner, New England Sign Service Joseph Robert Caserta age 96, of Trumbull, died on Saturday January 9, 2010, at his home with his family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on January 5, 1914, he was a son of the late Michael and Lucy Marino Caserta. Joseph attended Warren Harding High School, State Trade School and the Art School in New York and has been a Trumbull resident since 1952. Mr. Caserta was a U.S. Army veteran of the Second World War. He apprenticed as a sign painter and completed other courses in art, electronics and glass blowing all related to the sign trade, and has been in the sign business for 64 years. He was the retired owner of the New England Sign Service, Past President of the Connecticut Sign Assoc. and the Trumbull Italian Community Club, member of the Toastmasters of Bridgeport and the East Side Civic and Trade Association of Bridgeport, former member of the Local 331 Sign & Display Union, Administrator of Manpower Development Training Program for the government in Connecticut related to the training of apprentices for the sign trade. Mr. Caserta also designed three trophy winning floats in the Barnum Festival Parade for the Town of Trumbull. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Rose Mastrone Caserta, a son Michael Caserta and a daughter, Barbara Tierney. Survivors include a daughter, Ginger Mullin and her husband Rob of Oxford, seven grandchildren, Shayne, Dylan, Marissa, Christina, Deya, Rob and Paisley, two great grand children, Caden and Grant, a sister Carol Collins of Fairfield, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday January 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Theresa Church 5301 Main St., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
