Obituary of Teresa Caruso

April 25, 2010 Bridgeport Resident CARUSO Teresa (Tere) Condello Caruso, of Bridgeport, a retired practical nurse, died on Sunday, April 25, 2010 in St. Vincent Medical Center. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, she had been a Bridgeport resident for nearly 60 years. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Smith Condello. Mrs. Caruso was an avid bingo player, card player, Yankees fan, loved children and enjoyed cooking Italian meals for her family. She learned to cook from her aunts at the age of seven at the family restaurant in Brooklyn. She was a member of the Roma Club, the Council of Italian American Societies, the North End Tree Lighting Committee and was a volunteer for the Holy Rosary St. Anthony Festival. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Salvatore Caruso, Sr., an infant daughter, Christine and three brothers, Patrick, William and Joseph Condello. Survivors include two sons, Salvatore Caruso Jr. and his wife Sherri of Bedford, TX and State Representative Christopher Caruso of Bridgeport, two daughters, Catherine Grinnell and her husband Edward of Bridgeport and Helen Mandeville and her husband Louis of Melbourne, FL, six grandchildren, Teresa Grinnell and Kenneth Abbati of Bridgeport, Shaun Grinnell and his wife Amy of Shelton, Kimberly Granski and John Sboros of Melbourne, FL, Kelley Paton and her husband James of Melbourne, FL, Derek and Vincent Caruso of Texas, seven great grandchildren, William Grinnell, Robert Henry, Tyler Paton, Samantha, Madison, Evan and Dylan Caruso, as well as her best friend of over 40 years Joan Iazzi. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 12 noon in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum of Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call on Thursday from 3-8 p.m. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or the Disabled American Veterans through the funeral home.
