Obituary of Robert M. Williston

Retired Funeral Director Robert M. Williston, Jr., beloved husband of Barbara Scanlon Williston of Monroe, CT, died on Thursday, November 20, 2008. Born in Torrington, CT on October 10, 1941, he was the son of the late Robert M. Williston, Sr. and Agnes Ryan Williston. He was the father of Robert M. Williston, III and his wife Rochelle of Redding, CT, grandfather of Patrick R., Bryce C. and Quinn S. Williston of Redding and close cousin of Donald J. Shean and his wife Patricia of Bethel, CT. A graduate of Fairfield University, Bob was a Cum Laude graduate of McAllister Academy of Mortuary Science, New York, NY. Mr. Williston, who recently retired, was formerly General Manager of Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Homes in Stamford and Greenwich, CT. He was a member of the Stamford Rotary Club and a recipient of The Paul Harris Fellowship Award. Bob was formerly on the Board of Directors of The Smith House in Stamford, a member of The West Point Crew and the State Street Debating Society. He was also a member of the New York State Funeral Directors Association and the Connecticut State Funeral Directors Association. Robert spent his life serving people at the most difficult time in their lives. This takes a special person and he possessed a unique gift. He lived his life always finding the good in people. Bobs special job after retirement was being Grampa to his precious little guys Patrick, Bryce and Quinn. He was an avid NY Giant and Yankee fan. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday, November 24, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Huntington for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
