Obituary of John S. Voccola

Retired Deputy Fire Chief John S. Voccola, age 78, of Stratford, a retired deputy fire chief, died on Saturday, September 29, 2007. Born in Bridgeport on January 1, 1929, he was a son of the late Anthony and Romana Delia Voccola. A U. S. Army veteran, he was a fireman for the City of Bridgeport with 38 years of service, retiring as Deputy Chief. He was a member of Bridgeport Area Retired Firefighters, a past officer and member of UNICO and many others local civic and cultural societies. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Dolores Scinto Voccola and six brothers and sisters. Survivors include four daughters, Jane McManus and her husband Thomas of North Hampton, NH, Ramona Beirne and her husband Dreux of Guilford, Barbara Gagliardi and her husband Frank and Nancy Macauda and her husband John, all of Trumbull, a brother Raymond Voccola and his wife Marge of Stratford, two sisters, Grace Vitale of Stratford and Edith Baldyga and her husband Joseph of Hudson, FL, six grandchildren, Allison and Lisa McManus, Mallory Beirne, Stephen Gagliardi, Jacalyn and John Macauda, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
