Obituary of Dolores M. Vitale
Dolores Iassogna Vitale, age 82, of Trumbull, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Carolton Chronic Convalescent Home with her loving family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the devoted wife of 59 years to Ronald L. Vitale. Dolores was born on May 11, 1931 in Bridgeport to the late Patrolman Domenick and Elizabeth Negri Iassogna. She was a graduate of the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall where she was a class officer and member of the National Honor Society. Dolores was a retired administrative secretary for the Trumbull Board of Education. Dolores and Ron moved to Trumbull in 1962 where they raised their two sons, Ronald and Robert. They became very active members of Christ the King Church where Dolores served faithfully as a Eucharistic Minister, Parish Council Member, Religious Education Teacher, Liturgical Committee Member, and Prayer Line Member. Dolores, an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, theater, trips to Maine, Jeopardy and attending her cherished grandsons activities. She was a talented cook and baker. She and her husband were ardent fans of UConn men and women basketball. Dolores and her husband were members of BACIO (Bridgeport Association of Cultural Italian Organization). Above all, her greatest joy came from time spent with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her outgoing personality, warm smile and caring ways endeared her to all who knew her. She will be sorely missed. She is survived by her husband Ronald Vitale, her sons, Ronald G. Vitale of Shanghai, China, and Robert Vitale and his wife Cindy of Fairfield, her adored grandsons, Ryan and Luke Vitale, her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Iassogna, Mary Iassogna and Eleanor Iassogna, and her dear nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Evelyn Mizia and brothers, Bernard Iassogna, James Iassogna and Domenick Iassogna.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the care and compassion shown by Dr. Malefatto and staff, Dr. Daniel Rudolph, Dr. William Hulcher, Dr. Peterson, and all who cared for her at Bridgeport Hospital Richardson 8 Rehab, the Carolton Chronic Convalescent Home, and Vitas Hospice Care.
