Obituary of Mary Varrone

Resident of Stratford Mary Marsala Varrone, age 84, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late John A. Varrone, Sr., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Bridgeport Hospital with her children by her side. Born on March 26, 1927, in Old Forge, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maude Fritzinger Marsala. Mrs. Varrone held a very special bond with her children and grandchildren. Along with her husband, she was a foster parent to seven children over the years. She was a caretaker to the priests, nuns and church at Our Lady of Grace Parish and was very active in the Marion Guild. Mrs. Varrone worked for ten years at Raybestos and for over 20 years as a cook at Second Hill Lane School in Stratford. She took great joy in cooking and spending time with her family. Marys family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the SICU Unit at Bridgeport Hospital for their compassionate care. Survivors include a daughter, Maryjo Gallo and her husband Jeff of Orange, a son, John J. Varrone Jr. and his wife Diane of Trumbull, four cherished grandchildren, John Varrone III, Matthew Varrone, Ashlyn Mary Gallo and Jeffery Gallo, three brothers, Peter Marsala of Fairfield, John Marsala and his wife Mary Ann of Huntington and Clarence Marsala of Seymour, two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Marsala of Milford and Joanne Micalizzi and her husband Charlie of MA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Varrone was pre-deceased by seven brothers and sisters, Josephine, Caroline, Ethel, Ruth, Joe, Verda, and Annie. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 7, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull. Friends may call on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
