Obituary of Margarida Rodrigues Varandas

Margarida Rodrigues Varandas, age 88, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of Antonio Varandas, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013 in St. Vincents Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Vilarinho de Sao Bento, Portugal on June 30, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Jacinto and Albina Maria Rodrigues. Mrs. Varandas loved life and was always full of energy. She enjoyed dancing, cooking and tending to her garden and was especially proud of her prize winning roses. However, her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Maria Persilia Malta. In addition to Antonio, her husband of 67 years, survivors include eight children, Ida Pinto and her husband Acacio of New Canaan, Fatima Pereira and her husband Joe of Monroe, Maria Agostinha Sereno and her husband John of Fairfield, Alsino Varandas of Florida, Anthony Varandas of Bridgeport, Maria Adelia Santana and her husband Oscar of Naugatuck, Jorge Varandas and his wife Jeanette of Florida and Mary-Jo OGull and her husband Michael of Monroe, 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Augustine Cathedral, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
