Obituary of Thomas J. Toomey

Trumbull Resident TOOMEY Thomas Joseph Toomey, age 92, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Mary Louise Toomey, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 19, 2009. Born in Bridgeport CT, he had been a Trumbull resident for over 58 years. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Toomey was a retired purchasing agent and worked for the General Electric Company in Bridgeport for over 50 years. He was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club. He received his Bachelors degree in Accounting from the University of Bridgeport. Thomas Toomey was a parishioner of St. Theresas Church since moving to Trumbull in 1951. Due to his love of traveling, he also worked as a travel agent post-retirement. Thomas Toomey enjoyed his family, bowling, tennis, pinochle, traveling, keeping up with the financial news and watching the Yankees and Giants. Thomas was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed. His grandchildren were the light of his life; both grandsons were named for him. He is also survived by two devoted daughters and their spouses, Patricia Anne Toomey and Professor dr med Karl-Dietrich Sievert of Germany and Pamela and Patrick Reeves of Madison, Connecticut; four cherished grandchildren who loved and adored him, Gavin Thomas Reeves, Emma Margaret Reeves, Aileen Catherine Reeves and Alexander Thomas Sievert. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Henry Toomey and Mary Muldoon and brother John Toomey. Funeral Information A Memorial Mass celebrating his life will take place on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St. , Trumbull. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford where he will be buried alongside his parents. There are no calling hours. Arrangements entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
