Obituary of Angelo G. Thanassi

Long time Resident of Shelton THANASSI- Angelo G. Thanassi, age 88, of Wallingford, a long time Shelton resident and retired mechanic for the experimental division of Sikorsky Aircraft, died on Monday, January 11, 2010 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Born in St. Louis, MO on January 23, 1921, he was a son of the late George and Jenny Fatse Thanassi and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was pre-deceased by his wife Jeanne Hickey Thanassi and a sister Catherine Semo. Survivors include a son Andrew Thanassi and his wife Linda of Shelton, two daughters, Jane Thanassi of Wallingford and Christine Rello and her husband Philip of Shelton, a brother John Thanassi and his wife Natalie of Burlington, VT, a sister, Florence Bacon and her husband Donald of Palmerston North, New Zealand, six grandchildren, Ryan and Olivia Thanassi, Kacy and Dominick Rello and Kelsey and Jaime Loomis and many nieces and nephews. Angelo will be remembered as a wonderful family man and friend. He loved being with his family, especially his grandkids, and was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, the NY Giants and all types of helicopters. He was an avid reader and loved the music of Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra. His kindness, generosity and laughter will be greatly missed by his family. Thank you to all the wonderful nurses and care givers of Wallingford Home Hospice and The Connecticut Hospice. Funeral Information Memorial Services will take place on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives may call on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
