Obituary of Bohdan Sumyk

Bohdan (Benny) Sumyk, age 73, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Vivian Mannino Sumyk, died on Friday, December 8, 2006 at his residence. Born in the Ukraine on November 5, 1933, he was a son of the late Walter and Anna Tokar Sumyk and was a resident of Bridgeport over 50 years. Mr. Sumyk was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired as a sheet metal worker and was also employed at Angelos Auto Center, Milford. He was an avid fisherman, soccer and wrestling fan and enjoyed shopping and coupon clipping. He was pre-deceased by his daughter, Laura and a sister, Luba Towpasz. In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Lisa Porto and her husband Jeff of Stratford; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and his cat, Juno. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukranian Catholic Church, 457 Noble Ave., Bridgeport. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. A Panahyda service will take place Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family through the funeral home.
