Obituary of William R. Brackett
Retired Bridgeport Police Detective
William R. Brackett, age 78, of Shelton, a retired Police Detective for the City of Bridgeport, died at his residence on Monday, May 1, 2006. Born in Bridgeport on August 7, 1927, he was a son of the late Clinton and Catherine Shomsky Brackett and was pre-deceased by his wife, Clara DeFilippo Brackett and a sister, Catherine Lyons. A U. S. Army Veteran of World War II, Bill was an avid golfer and gambling enthusiast who loved Las Vegas. He will be remembered as a happy man who always wore a smile on his face and for being kind, thoughtful and generous to everyone. Survivors include a son, William T. Brackett, Bridgeport Fire Department and his wife, Diane of Fairfield, a daughter, retired Bridgeport Police Officer Deborah Uliano of Shelton, his step-mother, Helen Brackett of Bridgeport, his devoted companion, Ann Torrillo, two brothers, Clinton Brackett of Bridgeport and Richard Brackett and his wife, Stephanie of Stratford his beloved grandchildren, Amy Rosati and her husband, Lenny, Ryan Iacomacci and his wife, Aimee, Jaime Sawyer and her husband, Michael and Sara Brackett, three cherished great grandchildren, Jake and Lauren Rosati and Luke Sawyer and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, May 4, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
