Obituary of Michael J. Stonoha

Retired Bridgeport Firefighter Michael J. Stonoha, age 86, of Stratford, beloved husband of Muriel DeRoche Stonoha, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Connecticut Health Care of Southport surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport on September 20, 1922, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna Kubina Stonoha. Mr. Stonoha served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from the Bridgeport Fire Department with 35 years of service. In addition to his beloved wife of 62 years, he is survived by two children, a son Michael G. Stonoha and his wife Laurelle of Oxford; a daughter, Nancy Decker and her husband Matthew of Stratford; a brother, Joseph Stonoha and his wife Jean of Easton; a sister, Katherine Solomon of Bridgeport; six grandchildren, Michael Stonoha, Jessica Stonoha, Devin LoConte, Kelli Urzua and her husband Robert, Matthew Decker Jr. and Marisa Jane Decker; a great granddaughter, Ava Urzua and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters, Edward, James and Robert Stonoha, Frances Schwartz and Mildred Swidar. Funeral Information PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN SERVICES. Funeral Services will take place at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
