Obituary of Vera Stauffer

October 10, 2006 U. S. Army Veteran of World War II Vera Vecchio Stauffer, of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late Robert G. Stauffer, died on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 in Maefair Health Care Center in Trumbull. Born in Bridgeport, she was a daughter of the late Ignatius and Rosalie Rossi Vecchio and was a longtime resident of Stratford. Mrs. Stauffer was a Technical Sergeant in the United States Army during WWII while stationed in Vienna, Austria at General Mark Clarks headquarters. She was a secretary at Second Hill Lane School in Stratford for 25 years before her retirement. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Banks of Framingham, MA; two granddaughters, Catherine Banks, Emily Ballard and a great grandson William Ballard. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters, Salvatore, Joseph, Vincent, Thomas, and Helen Vecchio, Carmella Oppedisano, Beatrice Rodriguez, Priscilla Vannucci, Mary Turner, Lucy Gordon and Margaret Rodia. Funeral Information Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 13 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Easton. There will be no calling hours.
