Obituary of Maribeth Ann Gentile
Maribeth Ann Gentile, beloved wife of James J. Gentile, Esq. of Trumbull, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014 with her loving family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on October 16, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Elizabeth Spinning Gilbert. Maribeth was a teacher at the Bryant School in Bridgeport and worked alongside her husband at his law firm. Nana, as she was affectionately called, was a member of the Patterson Club in Fairfield and the St. Vincents Medical Center Auxiliary. A woman of many interests, she particularly enjoyed watching the UConn womens basketball team, gardening, playing bridge, cooking for her family, and wagering on football games with her closest friend, Dorothy Noreiks. However, Nanas greatest joy was spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.
In addition to Jim, her husband of 54 years, survivors include, a son, James Gilbert Gentile and his wife, Lisa Barry Gentile of North Haven; two daughters, Amy Elizabeth Stern and her husband, Edward M. Stern of Southport, and MaryKate Prezioso and her husband William M. Prezioso of Trumbull; and, nine grandchildren - Barry Gentile, Emily Stern, Christopher Stern, Patrick Stern, Matthew Stern, Lily Stern, Caroline Prezioso, William Prezioso and Lydia Prezioso. She is also survived by her especially supportive sisters-in-law, Barbara Gilbert of Fairfield and Tere Lou Newbauer and her husband, William E. Newbauer of Stratford, as well as by many nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Maribeth was pre-deceased by her brother, Carey Gilbert, sister-in-law, Aileen L. Meyer and brother-in-law, Vincent E. Meyer.
The family would like to thank Drs. Arnold Dorosario, Jeffrey Berman, Edward Duda, Dan Passeri and the late Ray Gabriele, plus the entire nursing staff at St. Vincents, floor 9 south, as well as the entire staff of nurses and aides at the Ludlowe Center for Health & Rehabilitation who gave such loving and expert care to Maribeth. A special hats off to Ludlowes Debra OConnor and Lewis Abramson who showed such compassion and concern for all of us at a most difficult time in our lives. Funeral Information
