Obituary of Esther P. Shirey

Esther P. Shirey, age 93, a resident of Westport for 61 years, died Thursday, July 22, 2004 in St. Joseph Manor, Trumbull. She is the widow of Richard H. Shirey. Mrs. Shirey was a devoted volunteer for the Red Cross for 50 years, a dedicated volunteer for 25 years for Meals on Wheels, a long-time member of the Westport Womens Club, Westport Garden Club and Saugatuck Congregational Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Lee Hollis of Easton, a granddaughter, Shari Carr and her husband, Marc of Essex Junction, VT, a grandson, David Hollis of Stratford and a great granddaughter, Lindsay Carr. 

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 26, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Saugatuck Congregational Church, Westport. Following the service the family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of the church. Interment of cremated remains will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Westport at a later date.
