Obituary of Kevin Brendan Sheehan
Kevin Brendan Sheehan, age 50, of Trumbull, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife, twin daughters, family and close friends after an 8 month long courageous battle with Sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, a rare (1 in a million) neurodegenerative disease. Kevin was born on December 12, 1959 in Bridgeport, CT, the son of Edward and Marion Wallace Sheehan. Kevin was a graduate of Bullard Havens Technical School Machine Shop as a Tool & Die Maker. He was employed in various machine shops throughout his career, most recently at Sikorsky Aircraft. Kevin was an avid Yankee and Jets fan and a diehard PARROTHEAD. He was a member of both the Pequonnock Yacht Club and Ryans Marina, where he enjoyed fishing and boating. He enjoyed spending time at Seaside Park. His landmark on the beach was the big oak tree. He would mark his spot in the sand with the American flag and stay until the sun went down. Kevin had a love of skating, beginning as a skate guard at the Wonderland of Ice. He spent many years as a NIHOA ice hockey official, and was also an Off Ice official for the inaugural season of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He shared his love of skating with his daughters. He was also a member of the Fairfield County Football Officials Association, refereeing games for Pop Warner as well as local high schools. Kevin was a member of the Fairfield County chapter of Approved Baseball Umpires. He was also a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus St. Theresa Council #2961 and the John F. Kennedy Division 1 Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Kevin is survived by his wife Diane (Chakmakjian) Sheehan, his daughters Sydney Rose and Jacquelyn Olivia, parents Edward and Marion Sheehan of Bridgeport, brother Edward Sheehan and wife Elizabeth of Dalton MA, mother and father in law, Florence and Stephen Chakmakjian of Trumbull, brother-in-law Stephen Chakmakjian and wife Susan of Madison CT, sister-in-law Mary Bandereck and husband Christopher of Topsfield MA, aunt MaryLou Sheehan of Bridgeport and uncle Joseph Wallace of Stratford. He is also survived by a niece several nephews, loving cousins and devoted friends. He was pre-deceased by a brother Timothy Sheehan.
Kevin's family would like to give special thanks to Connecticut Hospice, especially Georgia Kay and Stephanie Voss and his home infusion nurse Ed Parshall. Kevin had a deep faith in God, we are forever grateful to those that supported & strengthened us with their prayers throughout this journey.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 5th from 2-6 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. DIRECTLY in St. Theresas Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull.
