Obituary of Isabella Garamella

Isabella Tedesco Garamella of Trumbull, devoted wife of the late Leonard A. Garamella, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2007. Born and raised in Bridgeport, she was the last surviving child of the late Donato and Raeffaela Rodia Tedesco. She was a graduate of Waltersville School and Harding High School. Isabel was a resident of Trumbull for over 60 years, enjoying the last four years at Spring Meadows. She worked as a secretary for several employers over the years. During World War II she held her first job as a receptionist at General Electric and entertained fellow employees with her famous lunchtime vocal performances. She worked at the Italian Community Center and later served as president of its Ladies Guild. Isabel performed as a big band vocalist in the area singing at many venues including the Melody Club and The Ritz Ballroom. More recently, she performed with the Paul King Band. She was pre-deceased by her sisters, Lucy Perillie, Florence Retartha, Frances DeMatteo, Felice Tedesco, Ann Marchetti, Teresa Annicelle, Carmella Merola and her brother, Dominic Tedesco. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Arnold Frankel of Woodbridge, her son Leonard J. Garamella of Castle Rock, CO, two sisters-in-law, Mildred Tedesco of Bridgeport and Laura Rossignol of Stratford, her brother-in-law, Dr. Joseph Garamella of Minnesota, five grandchildren Jessica Frankel Trachten and her husband Evan, Jeremy Frankel and his wife Beth Frankel Merenstein, Leonard Garamella, David Garamella and Arissa Pacheco and her husband Adam, two great-grandchildren, Jordan Sarah and Maya Rose Frankel as well as many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the wonderful caregivers and staff at Spring Meadows and a special note of gratitude to her nurse, Cordella. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Isabella and Leonard Garamella can be made to the Trumbull Recreation Concert Series in care of the funeral home.
