Obituary of Anthony J. Rodia

Anthony J. Rodia, age 83, of Trumbull, a retired steamfitter for Union Local #777, died on Sunday, August 7, 2005 at his residence. Born on December 3, 1921, he was a Bridgeport resident for many years before moving to Trumbull in 1989. He was a son of the late Consolato and Jennie Cerino Rodia and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. Tony was a Quartermaster for the St. Raphaels Golden Buccaneers Jr. Drum and Bugle Corps in the 1960s and a member of the Park City Pride Combined Alumni Corps in 2004. He enjoyed staying active outdoors especially with his gardening.

He was pre-deceased by his wife, Margaret Vecchio Rodia, a brother, Neil Rodia and two sisters, Belinda Memoli and Jennie Yacoviello.

Survivors include a son, Carl M. Rodia and his wife, Helen of Trumbull, two daughters, Joanne Szadeczky and her husband, Joseph of Shelton and Annette Clift and her husband, Nelson of Trumbull, seven grandchildren, Becky Schoenfeld, Margaret Szadeczky, Cara Foley, Steven Szadezcky, Natalie, Nathan and Nina Clift and a great grandson, Robert Foley, Jr. He was known as Grandpa Tony to his grandchildren and their friends. 

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
