Obituary of Salvatore M. Garafalo

U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War Salvatore M. Garafalo, Sr., age 77, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Mary Force Garafalo, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 27, 2006 at St. Vincents Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on December 26, 1928, he was a son of the late Salvatore and Antoinette Guccione Garafalo. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Garafalo was a recipient of the Purple Heart and was also employed by Wonder Bread and Moore Special Tool. Survivors in addition to his wife of 52 years include his five beloved children, Salvatore Garafalo, Jr. and his wife, Judith of Sunrise, Florida, Michael Garafalo and his wife, Susan of Ansonia, Lori Ann Holda and her husband, Richard of Wallingford, Antoinette Carroll and her husband, Thomas of Stratford and Angela Garafalo of Ansonia, a sister-in-law, Jennie Garafalo of Milford, ten grandchildren, Brian, Craig and Amy Garafalo, Jessica Napoleone, Theresa, Kristin and Stephanie Holda and Kathryn, Lindsay and Christopher Carroll and several beloved nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Jennie Timpano and Angelina Albanese and a brother, Harry Garafalo. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Edward Tristine and Dr. Richard Sekerak and staff, the nursing staff of the 9th floor of St. Vincents Medical Center and the hospice nurses of the Connecticut VNA by Masonicare. Funeral Information A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial celebrating his life will take place on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, Stratford. Interment with full military honors will follow in Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport. Friends may greet the family on Friday, March 31, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
