Obituary of Joseph J. Retartha

Stratford Resident Joseph J. Retartha, age 81, of Stratford, died on Saturday, July 19, 2008. Born in Bridgeport on June 24, 1927, he was the son of the late Frank and Amy Creaturo Retartha. He was a graduate of Folsom High School, Folsom, CA and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Joe was a retired employee of Amtrak and the Stratford Board of Education. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 193 of Stratford and the Germania Schwaben Society. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Josephine B. Fazio Retartha, a daughter, Amelia Retartha and a sister Frances Convertino. Survivors include a son Frank Retartha of Stratford, two daughters Grace (Sissy) Oliver of Milford and JoAnn Granton of Stratford, two sisters Sally Luciano of Lake Worth, FL and Lucille Sarock of Cape Coral FL, four grandchildren, Alicia, Vincent, Angelina and Abigail, a great granddaughter, Jessenia as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in St. James Roman Catholic Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Milford.
