Obituary of Samuel Paul Recupero

Samuel Paul Recupero, Sr., son of the late Gaetano and Lena Rizzo Recupero, died on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at St. Joseph Manor, Trumbull. He was 85 years old. Mr. Recupero was born in Bakerton, Pennsylvania and moved to Bridgeport in 1945 after serving with the 990th Ordnance Company during World War II as a Technical Sergeant. He was lead man at Raybestos Manhattan in Stratford and retired after 38 years. Mr. Recupero was the owner of Algonquin Cleaners in Bridgeport during the 1950s and 1960s and more recently co-owner of Recuperos Restaurant on Broadbridge Avenue. Until several years ago he worked part time at Beardsley One Hour Cleaners. Mr. Recupero was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. A resident of Stratford for six years, he is survived by his wife, Maria (Mary) Donofrio Recupero, a daughter, Marietta DOstilio and her husband, Michael of Fredericksburg, VA, two sons, Samuel Recupero, Jr. and his wife, Mary Ellen of Shelton and Robert Recupero and his wife, Rosemary of Stratford. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Heather Clemens and her husband, David, Michael DOstilio and his wife, Jennifer, Sammy Recupero, III and his wife, Melissa, Ryan Recupero, Tiffany Recupero, Kelly Recupero, Paul Recupero, Emily Recupero, a great grandson, Christopher Clemens, a sister, Josephine DiVita of Stratford, a brother-in-law, Peter Donofrio of Milford and many nieces and nephews. As a former parishioner of Saint Charles Borromeo Church in Bridgeport for over 50 years, Mr. Recupero was a member of the Knights of Columbus. After moving to Stratford, he became a parishioner of Saint James Church. During his earlier years when his sons were growing up he served as Little League coach, something he truly enjoyed. Throughout his lifetime baseball and politics were his passions. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 8:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in St. James Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
