Obituary of Joan E. Pristash

September 22, 2011 Joan E. Pristash, of Shelton, CT, died Thursday, September 22nd at the age of 82. She passed away peacefully at home with her children by her side. Born and raised in Yonkers, NY, the eldest daughter of the late Vincent and Clara Kazmierski, she moved to Connecticut 25 years ago. She was a hard-working mom (and second mom to many) who enjoyed spending time with her family. Lovingly known as "Joanie-Babe," and "Ginga" she was the "energy" of many family gatherings with a dance style that will never be duplicated and an ability to breakout a polish song that fit the occasion. Her leadership of our annual New Year's Eve midnight pots and pans parade will be a tough act to follow! She also enjoyed camping, spending time at the beach, painting, writing, music, puzzles, bingo and bowling. Her particular love of Montauk, NY now provides a special respite for three generations of family. Joan was predeceased by her brother Carl, her former husband, Michael Pristash, and is survived by her sisters, Mary Ann Supliski and her husband Otto and Jean Wagner and her husband Robert, her sister-in-law, MaryAnn Kazmierski, her son, David Pristash and her daughters, Karen Simon, Donna DeLitto, Annemarie Hughes and Laura Abel and their spouses, Leanna, Richie, Tom, Mark and Mark. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Allison, Cori, Tommy, Caroline, Matt and Chrissy. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Jude Church, Monroe for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to one of her favorite charities, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
