Obituary of Charles E. Potter

Bridgeport Police Officer Charles E. Potter Jr., age 81, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 18, 2011. Born in Bridgeport on July 17, 1930, he was a son of the late Charles E. Potter, Sr. and Catherine Prince Potter. He was a police officer for the City of Bridgeport for 31 years before his retirement and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Lodge. A sports enthusiast, he was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. His love was spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include two sons, Charles G. Potter and his wife Haya of Stamford and Craig P. Potter and his wife Janet of Goshen, two brothers, Msgr. Joseph Potter of Brazil and Richard Potter of Shelton, a sister, Virginia Gardner of Shelton, two grandchildren, Craig B. Potter and Colleen Flanagan, his loving companion, Phyllis Prince as well as several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Robert Potter. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
