Obituary of James J. Plunkett
James J. Plunkett, 74, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Patricia (Nastasia) Plunkett passed away at home surrounded by the loving family he both created and nurtured his entire life on Friday June 21, 2013. Born in Bridgeport, CT on July 15, 1938, he was the son of the late Bernard and Florence Plunkett. Jim served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1960 and came home to win over his sweetheart Patricia. After the Navy, he began his distinguished lifetime career at Sikorsky Aircraft as an Engineering Apprentice during which time he earned an Engineering Degree from Norwalk State Technical College and was selected to attend Harvard Business School Program for Management Development. After 40 years, he retired as the General Manager of Machining & Transmissions, but his passion and commitment to Sikorsky found him returning for another 10 years as a Consultant. His passion and devotion to his career was only surpassed by his commitment to his loving family. Jim married his beautiful bride Patricia in 1961 and their love story continued for the next 52 years made complete with their two children and four grandchildren. Jim provided unforgettable memories for his family throughout every vacation, adventure, holiday and simple family meals. Nothing made him prouder than the accomplishments and successes of his grandchildren and he offered his limitless time and attention to them to provide guidance, wisdom and advice from his unparalleled moral compass. His strong character and integrity in all he did both with his Sikorsky family and his own family created a path for all to follow. Jim is survived by his loving wife Patricia, his son Jim and his wife Kelly of Monroe, as well as his daughter Dawn Sessa and her husband Frank of Shelton. He greatly looked forward to visits from his movie watching partner, his sister Pam Mondo (husband Jim of Monroe), and the frequent return visits from his sister Patrice Plunkett of Carbondale, CO. He was pre-deceased by his brother Buddy Plunkett. His grandchildren and source of great pride and joy, 2nd Lieutenant Timothy Coe and wife Victoria, Molly Coe, Kevin Plunkett and Kayla Plunkett will surely miss their inspiration from Pa, but will continue to be guided through his loving and generous spirit. A special thank you to the wonderful caretakers of Vitas Hospice Care whose compassion and professionalism were a source of support and comfort during these last few months. Funeral Information
