Obituary of William George Pixley

William George Pixley, age 95, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 14, 2005 at St. Vincent Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Bill was the son of the late William and Natalie Neubauer Pixley.

He was pre-deceased by his wife Vera Radachowsky Pixley.

A lifelong Bridgeport resident, he graduated from Warren Harding High School and attended the University of Alabama. Bill retired from the Bridgeport Fire Department in 1963 as a Lieutenant and was the oldest retiree, after 25 years of service. He then went on to become a kitchen designer for Burritts Building Co. He was a member of the Edison Club and the St. Margarets Senior Citizen Club. He was an avid reader and later enjoyed listening to books on tape. His greatest enjoyment was playing pinochle. The Scandinavian Club gave him much pleasure. He also enjoyed square and round dancing for many years, seven days a week. He was a member of the Flying Squares and the Pomperaug Squares.

Survivors include his beloved daughter Dacia Knopick and her fiance John Delorme, a grandson John W. Knopick and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will take place on Friday, November 18, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. in the Long Hill United Methodist Church, 6358 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call on Thursday from 3-8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
