Obituary of Lawrence Bohn

Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather Lawrence (Larry) Bohn, age 73, of Stratford, died peacefully on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his loving wife, Marylou, his cherished daughter Doreen Simpson and his son-in-law Bill. Larry was born on July 30, 1937 in East Orange, NJ. He grew up in Mt. Vernon, NY, the son of the late Ralph and Olive Rooney Bohn. He graduated from Arch Bishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, NY in 1955 and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1959 from St. Michaels College in Burlington, VT. Larry honorably served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves during the 1960s and was activated for one year during the Berlin Crisis. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather whose greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially with his only grandson, Austin James. He had a lifelong passion for sports (NY Giants and NY Rangers), books and music. Larry began his career at American Tobacco in New York City in Human Resources and continued in this field for the remainder of his career. Upon retirement from the corporate world, nothing was more fulfilling than his years working as a job developer for Homes for the Brave on Park Ave. in Bridgeport, CT (a veterans assistance program). Larry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Marylou Kieran Bohn, his daughter Doreen Simpson and her husband Bill, and only grandchild Austin James. He also leaves behind his four sister-in-laws and their husbands, and nine nieces and nephews who he cherished. He is also survived by six cousins. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to all those who have cared for him through Vitas Hospice, 777 Corporate Drive, Fairfield, CT 06825 and to his friends and family for their tremendous love, support and friendship. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mark Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
