Obituary of John P. Pace

U. S. Army Veteran John P. Pace Sr., age 82, beloved husband of Mary Lou Bochniak Pace of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Ludlowe Center of Fairfield, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Pace was born on September 2, 1929, a son of the late Salvatore and Margaret Matera Pace. Before his retirement he worked with the Trumbull Public School System for many years. In addition to his wife Mary Lou, of 49 years, survivors include a son, John P. Pace Jr. of Milford, a daughter, Michelle Wynne and her husband William of Cheshire, three cherished grandchildren, Moira Wynne, William Wynne Jr. and Shane Wynne, a brother Salvatore Pace Jr. and his wife MaryJo of Stratford, a sister, Florence Johnston and her husband Scott of FL, a sister-in-law Marion Pace of Trumbull as well as several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother Thomas Pace. John was a patient, loving and strong individual who always put his family first. John attended Central High School from 1943-1947, were he also played and starred in Football. John served as a Sergeant in the Army from 1948-1952. When he returned home, he attended UB from there he went on to work at Sikorsky Aircraft until 1960. John then became the owner of Ace's News and Variety store in the North End from 1960-1965, after selling his business he was employed by the custodial department of the Trumbull School systems until he retired in 1990. In 1947, John and his longtime friend Ken Abriola started the Highland Athletic Association, located in Bridgeport CT. The Association provided local youths with the opportunity to play competitive Football, Basketball and Baseball. In 1957, John and Ken managed the Highlander Baseball team to the Amateur World Series in Battle Creek Michigan. John was also a longtime devoted member of the Bridgeport Old Timers. The family would like to give a Special Thanks to the entire staff and management team at the Ludlowe Center along with the CT Hospice for making Johns last months pleasant ones. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull. Friends may call on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
