West Haven Resident BLADE-TEW Karen Ann Blade-Tew age 44, of West Haven, died on Friday January 15, 2010 in St.Vincent Medical Center surrounded by her devoted family after a brief courageous battle against lung cancer. Born on September 11, 1965 she was the loving daughter of Rosemary Molella Blade of Shelton and Peter Blade of Waterbury. Karen was employed as a nurses aide at Cambridge Manor with 26 years of dedication and passionate care to the residents. During her employment she touched the lives of not only her patients but her co-workers also. She built strong relationships with many of her colleagues whose generosity was greatly appreciated by her family during her time of need. In addition to her parents, survivors include her beloved husband Robert Tew of West Haven, three loving children, Dawn Silano and her fiance Mark Severino of Ansonia, Sara Silano of West Haven and their father Joe Silano of Derby and Jordan Tew their nine year old son, a cherished grandson Tyler Severino, two brothers, Paul Blade and his wife Vera of Shelton, Jimmy Blade and his wife Dana of Naugatuck, two sisters, who love and will miss her very much, LuAnne Fitzgerald and her husband Capt. John of Homestead, Fl and Dawn Tallo and her husband Uncle Mike of Shelton, three step-children, one step granddaughter and also several aunts, uncles, and especially her nieces, Brandie and Destiny, two great nieces Mackenzie and Hayden and her wonderful nephews, James, Michael, Anthony ,Nick, Stephen, and Louis. Also, several cousins and numerous close and caring friends. Even though Karen left this earth at a young age she lived every day as if it was her last. When she walked into a room her smile and charismatic nature would brighten the lives of everyone around her. She was a free spirited individual who loved to dance, travel the world, and her favorite pass time was playing slot machines. Heaven will keep her lucky now! Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly at St. Josephs Church, 50 Fairmont Place, Shelton on Monday, January 18, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a scholarship to benefit their son Jordan Tew.
