Obituary of Barbara Nykaza

Music Director, Christ the King Church Trumbull Barbara Bavedas Nykaza, age 81, of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Nykaza, died suddenly on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Born in Scranton Pennsylvania on August 9, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Barbara Drazdowskas Bavedas and Lewis Bavedas. She attended West Scranton High School, Business School and attended Madame Fenwick Beauty School. She was formerly employed by Zimmer & Zimmer C.P.A. as an office manager with 30 years of service and was currently the Music Director and organist at Christ the King Church, Trumbull. Barbara met her husband, Joseph, a serviceman in the U.S. Navy, and they married on January 5, 1952. At a young age Barbara had a love and passion for playing the piano. She would play for her classmates in grammar school, throughout high school and after high school began playing the organ at St. Michaels Church in Scranton. She loved to play the piano at home for her family and friends and truly enjoyed her time playing at church. Another passion was her love of gardening. Barbara was a devoted mother, loving grandmother and friend who loved life and was constantly giving of herself. She was a wonderful professional woman who raised four beautiful children. One of the most important loves of Barbaras life was music. She passed joy on to many people through her music. She will be deeply missed by all. Survivors include her four loving children, Leonard Nykaza and his wife Susan of Shelton, Linda Albanese and her husband Lou of Fairfield, Carol Nykaza of Trumbull and Susan Sicilian and her husband Edmond of VA, eight cherished grandchildren, Louis II and Christopher Albanese, Lindsay and Christine Nykaza and James Stewart and Nicole, Ashlyn and Gabrielle Sicilian, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Relatives and friends can greet family members at a memorial gathering celebrating her life on Friday November 6, 2009 at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. directly in Christ the King Church 4700 Madison Ave Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
