Obituary of Joseph G. Bevacqua

World War II Veteran Joseph G. Bevacqua, 88, of Bridgeport, devoted husband of the late Angeline (Clomiro) Bevacqua, died at St. Vincents Medical Center on Sunday, January 29, 2012. Born in Bridgeport, February 27, 1923, he was the son of the late Vincent and Theresa (Paola) Bevacqua. He was a graduate of Warren Harding High School in 1940. He served in World War II as part of General Pattons 3rd Army. After his discharge in 1946, he started his own photography business, American Photo Company. Later he worked for Exmet Corporation, becoming Plant Superintendent before he retired. He served as an usher at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Fairfield for many years. Survivors are a son, Michael Bevacqua and his wife Alberina, of Stratford, and a daughter, Theresa Sutherland and her husband, Douglas, of Trumbull. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Steven Bevacqua, of North Hollywood, CA, Lisa Bevacqua and Catherine Proto, of Belleville, NJ, and Kevin Sutherland, of Trumbull. Other survivors are his brothers, John Bevacqua, of Stratford and William Bevacqua, of Trumbull and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony Bevacqua and Nicholas (Bevacqua) Bevans and a sister, Rosa Bevacqua. His interests included enjoying his grandchildren, researching his family tree on his computer and watching Yankees baseball. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Rd., Fairfield, on Wednesday, February, 1, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment with full military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
