Obituary of Maria Emilia Monteiro

Resident of Monroe Maria Emilia Monteiro, age 58, of Monroe, beloved wife of Artur Monteiro, died on Friday, September 18, 2009 in Bridgeport Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in Sanjurge, Province of Chaves, Portugal on December 19, 1950, she was a daughter of Arminda DaCruz Crespo of Wallingford and the late Joao Crespo. Mrs. Monteiro was formerly employed at Bridgeport Machines and also worked at Omanel Restaurant for over 25 years. She was a Bridgeport resident for 27 years before moving to Monroe three years ago. Her passion was traveling to Portugal. Mrs. Monteiro was very devoted to the care of her family, however, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by three infant children, Artur Jr., Emilia (Milinha) and Utilia. In addition to her mother and husband of 41 years, she is survived by her devoted daughter Cristina Monteiro and her husband Carlos, her cherished grandchildren Timothy and Tiffany, her siblings, Joao Crespo, Maria Felisbina Oliveira and her husband Jack, Maria Fatima Crespo and her husband Stephen Bukowski, all of Wallingford, and a sister in Portugal as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Family and friends are invited to meet directly in St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Monroe Center Cemetery, Monroe. There will be no calling hours.
