Obituary of Salvatore Melita

U.S. Army Veteran of World War II Salvatore Melita, age 94, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Joan Vecchio Melita, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 in Carolton Chronic Convalescent Hospital. Born on July 29, 1917 in Bridgeport, he was a son of the late Rocco and Domenica Millemaci Melita. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, he was an information clerk for the U. S. Postal Service. In addition to Joan, his wife of nearly 71 years, he was pre-deceased by a grandson, Anthony Melita. Survivors include a son, Russell Melita and his wife Jean of Bethlehem, a daughter, Lorri Marinko of Florida, four grandchildren, Kelly Paine and her fiance Mark, Vincent Melita and his wife Gretchen, Joseph Melita and Elizabeth Kearney and her husband Steven, nine great grandchildren, Ariel, Audrey, Nico, Maya, Marshall, Maggie Jean, Aurora, Osborn and Antonia, a beloved nephew, Kevin Mello and his wife Gail of Monroe, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Private family funeral services will be conducted by the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Salvatores memory to a charity of ones choice.
