Obituary of Marie J. Mauritz

Marie J. (Laquessa) Mauritz, age 93, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the home her husband built for her, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to the late Rudolph J. Mauritz, Jr. Born in Bridgeport on December 22, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Julia (Lubijewski) Leonowicz and John Laquessa and was a longtime resident of Trumbull.

Marie graduated from St. John Commercial High School and later went on to obtain a Homemaker - Home Health Aide Certificate and worked as a home health aide. She was a devoted wife and mother and cherished the time spent with family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Rudolph J. Mauritz, III and his wife Catherine, three daughters, Marlene Spector and her husband Dennis, Michele Mills and her husband Bryan and Julie Novak and her husband Robert, six grandchildren, Rudy IV (Jennifer), Jaime, Justin (Sara), Nicholas, Andrew and Kyle, four great grandchildren, Elle, Amelie, Oliver and Eloise, 3 step-great grandchildren Ruben, Freyda and Lev and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Mauritz and Marilyn Valente (Joseph) as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, John Laquessa, brother-in-law, Richard Mauritz and adored nephew, Peter Mauritz.

Marie's family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers and staff from BrightStar Care of Western Connecticut and Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association (RVNA health) Hospice who provided compassionate care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Shelton Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Nichols Village Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
