Obituary of Rosemary D. Tozzi

Rosemary DiStasi Tozzi, age 94, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Bridgeport Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Tozzi. Born in Bridgeport on November 2, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Ettore DiStasi and Mildred Ruth Elmendorf DiStasi and was a lifelong Bridgeport resident.

Rosemary started her career in her teens at the Singer Sewing Machine Company and then went on to serve the City of Bridgeport for over 35 years and retired as the Assistant Town Clerk.

Her greatest passions were her family, immediate & external, especially her Grandchildren & Great Grandchild. She loved baking and cooking in the kitchen & on the dance floor with her dear friends and husband as well as going to the races, then the Pancake House with her husband & in-laws: Jimmy & Aileen. She enjoyed visiting & speaking on the phone with dear friends as well as sharing penny candy with her sister-in-law, Theresa. In her younger days it was dancing & singing at home with her immediate family & DiStasi Aunts, uncles & many cousins.

Survivors include a beloved son, Anthony (Tony) Tozzi and his wife Norma F. Tozzi, and three loving grandchildren, Gabriella, Daniel Joseph and Tatiana Tozzi and a cherished great granddaughter, Jaise as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by three sisters, Marion DiStasi, Eleanor Giampaolo Fitzpatrick and Rita Zaccarino and a brother, Joseph DiStasi.

We'd like to thank Tom Dolan, her Home Health Aides: Janice, Pandora & Barbara and The Bridgeport Hospital Staff for making her last few weeks in this world of the living as comfortable as possible.

All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. directly in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Rd., Fairfield. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
