U. S. Marine Corps Veteran Stephen J. Zawadski, age 89, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Annamae McNally Zawadski, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 in St. Vincents Medical Center. Born in Thompsonville, CT on March 12, 1922, he was a son of the late John and Anna Garstka Zawadski. He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran who attained the rank of Master Sergeant serving in the South Pacific and Okinawa. He was a retired police officer for the City of Bridgeport. On Thanksgiving Day, it would have marked the 63rd anniversary of his first assignment for the police department at the Central/Harding High School Football Game. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course. In addition to Annamae, his wife of 60 years, survivors include a son, Robert Zawadski and his wife Evette of Stratford, a daughter, Carole Nolan and her husband Harold of Shelton, six grandchildren, Melissa, Robert, Michael and Erin Nolan and Lauren and Robert Zawadski II, two brothers, Henry Zawadski of Bridgeport and Jack Zawadski and his wife Alice of Florida, two sisters, Felicia Sherwood of Bridgeport and Anna Crepeau of Stratford, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by five brothers, William, Gilbert, Zigmund, Leonard and Charlie Zawadski and two sisters, Bernice Vipond and Valerie Battagliola. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
