Obituary of Edmund A. Woerner

Edmund A. Woerner, age 86 of Monroe and formerly of Trumbull, died peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2011 at his home with his wife Dorothy by his side. Born in Bridgeport on February 6, 1925, he was a son of the late Edmund and Mildred Meyer Woerner. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Woerner was a retired general manager for Schaffer Machine Company. Edmund was a kind, gentle and loving man whose greatest love was his family. His Pinewood Lake home was a source of pride, having designed his home, constructing the addition, doing the landscaping and gardening and building the stone walls. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a joke or story to share. Together with his wife, they enjoyed listening to classical music, ballroom dancing, attending Broadway shows and traveling. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, trap and skeet shooting, golf, tennis and racquetball. He was pre-deceased by a brother Richard W. Woerner.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Dorothy Cummings Woerner of Monroe, two sons, Edmund C. Woerner and his wife Valerie of Monroe and Thomas G. Woerner and his wife Andrea of Oxford, two grandsons, Edmund R. and Thomas F. Woerner; a sister, Jean McGrath and her husband Jim of Trumbull as well as several nieces and nephews and family members in Michigan.

Prayer services will take place on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday from 5 7 p.m.
