Obituary of Marie A. Riccio

April 04, 2012 Devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Sister Marie DeSimone Riccio of Trumbull, beloved wife of Joseph J. Riccio, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Mount Kisco, NY on Groundhog Day, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Dena DeLucia DeSimone. A Proud Mommy she was a Trumbull resident for 52 years. She made perfect pizza and prosciutto pie and always had cookies for the kids in the neighborhood. Her family was always at the center of her life. She eagerly awaited the arrival of spring each year in order to spend time tending her gardens. In addition to her husband of 57 years, Joseph, survivors include her beloved children, Susan (Riccio) Mendel and her husband Steve of Shelton, James Riccio and his wife Christine of Newtown, Laura Riccio Prestash and her husband Brian of Cheshire and Peter Riccio of Atlanta, GA, two cherished grandchildren, Dena and Sarah Riccio, a brother, Peter S. DeSimone and Mary Schantz of Jefferson City, MO, two sisters, Louise Mulloy of Trumbull and Nancy Cetorelli and her husband Daniel of Shelton and several treasured nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of St. Vincent Medical Center 9th Floor South and the Cancer Center for the exceptional skill and compassionate care they extended to Marie. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Ave., Trumbull on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
