Obituary of James J. Gallagher

Resident of Huntington James J. Gallagher Sr., age 77, of Huntington, CT, loving husband of Carol E. Gallagher, died peacefully on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford with his family by his side. Born on June 26, 1934 he was a son of the late Raymond J. Sr. and Kathleen McIlvaine Gallagher. James was a graduate of Bristol PA High School Class of 1952, where he excelled at basketball and football. He went on to earn his Bachelors Degree from Rider University. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he served his country proudly from 1957-1959. Mr. Gallagher was a retired employee for Sea Land/Maersk Containers Inc. with over 45 years of dedicated service. A parishioner of St. Lawrence Church, Shelton, he was a founding member of the Knights of Columbus Council #14014 at the church and volunteered on many committees. He was also a board member of the LHermitage Home Owners Association. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother he will be deeply missed. In addition to his devoted wife of 50 years, Carol, survivors include four loving children, Christopher J. Gallagher and his wife Leslie of PA, James J. Gallagher Jr., and his partner Joseph Lucchesi of MD, John M. Gallagher and his wife Kimberly of WA and Maryann Agostin and her husband Jeffrey of Trumbull, nine cherished grandchildren, Jack, Anna, Timothy, Matthew, Lily, Rowan and Hailey Gallagher and Abigail and Samantha Agostin; two brothers, Raymond J. Gallagher Jr. and William J. Gallagher and his wife Linda; two sisters Blanche Brady and Jo Ann Pagliei all of PA, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
