Obituary of David W. Bennett

David W. Bennett age 77 of Milford, beloved husband of Karen (Lakatos) Bennett, passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with lung disease on Monday, September 28, 2026 at Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on October 7, 1948 he was the son of the late William and Stella (Litwin) Bennett. David was a longtime resident of Bridgeport before settling in Milford 22 years ago. Upon graduating from Harding High School, David joined the Military and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Upon his discharge from the military David worked for Warnaco in Bridgeport for many years as a pattern cutter. He later went on to work for Victoria's Secret with the designers in New York City where he retired after many dedicated years. David was a hard working devoted man who did everything he could to provide the best for his family. Although he was retired, he went back to work at Thermaxx Jackets in West Haven where he worked up until the pandemic in 2020.

David was a huge animal lover, he loved all animals especially his two grandpups Louie and Lilly. The morning of his passing the most beautiful service Dog named Ella came to visit him. His bright blue eyes lit up as he petted her fluffy fur, she left him with a peaceful smile on his face. David was a simple man who loved to be outside in the yard, he took great pride in his lawn, keeping it meticulous with his angled lines. He enjoyed painting and was the one his family called when a room needed a fresh coat of paint. He enjoyed watching his two favorite sports Golf and Football cheering on his favorite team the Giants. He loved spending time with the love of his life Karen, watching their favorite TV shows and especially their Friday night date nights going to dinner and a movie. David was also very proud of the mustache he grew and maintained for 56 years after leaving the military.

In addition to his loving devoted wife Karen of 45 years, survivors include two daughters, Dana Garrow (John) of Milford, Colleen Adam and her husband John and two cherished granddaughters that were the light of his life, Ashley and Sydney Adam all of California. He also leaves to cherish his memory two brothers in law, Russell Lakatos and his wife Carolyn of Naugatuck and Ronald Lakatos and his wife Cindy of Iowa, 4 nieces Cheryl Holley of South Carolina, Lauren Lakatos, Claire Rathjen and her husband Mark all of Nebraska and Elizabeth Paloski of Naugatuck as well as several cousins. He is predeceased by his father and mother-in-law Louis and Grace Lakatos and a very special son-in-law Thomas Garrow Jr. as well as many aunts and uncles. A special thank you to three special ladies, Staci Johnson, Eileen Vigliotti and Donna McGrew for being with him and his family during his final days. They all held a special place in his heart.

A special thank you to Dr. Gettinger and the entire Smillow team for the many years of devoted care. And a very special thank you to the nurses of Bridgeport Hospital Samantha, Bernice and Leann for their wonderful care and special attention they gave to him.

All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated on Monday, October 5, 2026 at 10:30 a.m directly in St. Ann Church, 501 Naugatuck Ave. Milford. Interment with full military honors will follow in Huntington Lawn Cemetery East, Shelton. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday October 4th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd. Trumbull.
