We are so devastated to hear of Barb's passing. She shopped at Sorrento for as long as we can remember- probably 40 years! She would call and order her Roast beef come pick it up and bring it back for us to slice it. She was in several times a week and always talking about the beautiful meal she was cooking or party she was hosting. We always talked and will miss her very much.

So sorry to hear of Barb’s passing. She was genuinely a woman who gave to help make someone happy. I remember th time she loaned me one of her “celebration/party” dresses to wear while some employees and myself were on the float we built for the Barnum Festival parade. It was such a hot day, and Barb even met the float at the entrance to Kennedy Stadium to spray us all with water, trying to cool us off.
Rest in peace, Barbara, you’ve really made an impact during your life.

I remember visiting Barby at her home during our college years and her mom put together a spread of Cuban and Italian food. It was the first time I had ever cut an onion and I was 'crying' cooking with her mom Barbara. It was such a funny memory she was clearly the chef of the kitchen. What a cook! What a beautiful heart she had. She always made everyone feel so warm and welcome when we stepped foot in her home.

My godmother was one of the sweetest and most loving woman I have ever known. Whether you were family, friend or someone new, my aunt would welcome you into her home without reservation...Her love to be with family was shown in every instance from the birthday card she would send to the beautiful flower arrangements she would make to cooking dinner for Christmas Eve. Boy, am I going to miss her cooking...As Uncle Eddie in Christmas Vacation would say, " It was goooooood."
My aunt was first to hold me when I was born... I was the first boy for John and Yvonne Alvarez (Barbara was my dad's sister). I spent so much time with my Aunt and her husband my Uncle Andrew. My Uncle is an unbelievable man, father and spouse to my Aunt. He would do anything for his wife but she would drive him crazy too. Andrew, Andrew LOL I would hang out with them while my parents worked, sometimes stay overnight to give my parents a break and just be around her. My grandmother Olga and my Aunt kept a close eye on little Johnny. They both showed me to be proud of my heritage, my family and myself. Her laugh, her smile and the hug she gave I will miss terribly.
If you ever met my Aunt, you know. The world lost someone good. Someone real. Someone loving. I will miss her so much... I pray for healing for family and love to surround us all. I love you, Aunt Barbara. Forever and Always - Johnny
