Obituary of Alba A. Lanese
February 2, 1934 – September 26, 2026
Alba A. Lanese, of Trumbull, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and cherished friend passed away peacefully at Maefair Health Care Center at the age of 92.
Born on February 2, 1934 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Alba was the youngest of the four children born to the late Pietro and Filomina "Nancy" Formica.
Alba was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas V. Lanese; her longtime partner, Rosevillio Scarpone; her brother Joseph "Pep" Formica; her sister, Anita Formica Cecere; and her beloved daughter, Michelle M. Lanese.
She is survived by her son, Michael V. Lanese of Trumbull, and his partner Susan Dobyns; her sister Violet Formica Campbell of Woodland Hills, California; her grandchildren Mae M. Lanese Ranilla and her husband Jake, of Milford, and Nicholas D. Lanese, presently stationed at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington; as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will deeply miss her.
Alba was a warm, generous, devoted and loyal woman who found great joy in bringing people together. She loved to cook for everyone, especially her grandchildren, and was known as the cook of the family. She enjoyed preparing meals and entertaining during the holidays. She also spent many years cooking in her various restaurants and cafes. Her kitchen was a place where she expressed her love and she was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.
She also worked for many years as St. Joseph's Manor and Maefair Health Care Center, where she handled scheduling for the nurses and aides. It was a demanding responsibility, but Alba always did her best to care for others and make everyone happy.
The family extends as very special thank you to Alba's dear friend, Elizabeth "BB" Burton, whose friendship, devotion, and presence remained constant throughout the years and until the very end.
The family also wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the staff of Maefair Health Care Center for the care and compassion they provided and for keeping Alba comfortable during her final days. A special thank you goes to Gina Sabin, who provided the family with additional support and kindness during this difficult time.
Alba was the light of life to her family and friends. We will remember many things about her, but perhaps most of all, everyone will remember that if you needed her, she would be there.
To celebrate her life, services will take place at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT from 12:00-1:00 pm on Friday October 2, 2026. Burial will be private.
