Obituary of Ilona Gladu

Ilona Hollo Gladu-Perez, age 77 of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2026 at Maefair Health Care Center with her loving daughters by her side. Born in Friztlar, Germany on May 20, 1949, she was a daughter of Krisztina Hollo Hotz. Ilona was retired from Pepperidge Farm Inc., with over 20 years of dedicated service before retirement; she was also formerly employed by Country Home.

She had a wonderful sense of humor and could make anyone around her smile. Ilona was quiet, warm and enjoyed close friendships. She loved to crochet for her family and often donated many blankets to the area hospitals. Ilona was an avid reader and in her later years enjoyed listening to audio books.

But above all things, Ilona was a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother. She loved Sunday family breakfast when everyone was together, especially her grandchildren. She always put the need of her daughters and grandchildren before her own. The unconditional love she gave and the values she taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her mother, Krisztina, survivors include her two loving daughters, Tanya Rosati and her husband Philip and Amber Whittle and her husband Dan, three adored grandchildren, Alexa Rosati and Elsie and Joey Whittle, a brother, Louis Bodak, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jose Perez and step-father, Donald Hotz.

A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. directly in St. John's Cemetery, 500 Moose Hill Rd., Monroe.
