Obituary of Daniel Joseph Lazarus
Daniel Joseph Lazarus, 39, of Oxford, beloved son of Gary and Barbara DeMartino Lazarus, passed away peacefully in the arms of his parents in the early morning of August 19, 2026. Born in Bridgeport on January 6, 1987, he was a kind, loving, and beautiful son and brother.
A graduate of St. Joseph's High School Class of 2005, he attended Keene State College. Daniel worked alongside his father at the Roxbury Garage. He was also an avid New York Yankees and Giants fan.
Daniel was our joy and happiness and blessed us with 39 years of his smile and love of life. Daniel's favorite saying was "It's all good" and that's how he lived his life. He accepted whatever came his way, even with the challenges of NPC, and rarely complained, making it easier for us to love and care for him, even in the most difficult times. There will always be a hole in our hearts for our gentle giant but we will try to find some comfort knowing that he is free at last from the physical limitations he faced with such courage, and is now whole and at peace.
In addition to his loving parents, Gary and Barbara, survivors included his beloved brother and best friend, David Lazarus; aunts and uncles, Debbie and Larry Ellis, Joseph and Bobbi DeMartino and Marco DeMartino, cousins, Katie Haas (Robert), Lauryn Ellis, Nicholas Ellis (Erika), Elizabeth Testani (Domenic), Jason DeMartino, Adam DeMartino and Bethany Aiardo. He also leaves to cherish his memory, very dear friends who have supported the Lazarus family throughout Daniel's life, Susan and Tom Noonan and Lisa and Peter Tunucci. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Louis and Martha DeMartino, Martin Lazarus and Anne and Joseph Bodnar.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Daniel's medical support team, including his NPC specialist Dr. Caroline Hastings, and to the therapists and nurses who cared so lovingly and compassionately for him.
