Obituary of Charles D. Tomer

Charles D. Tomer, age 85, of Oxford, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Edward and Eleanor (Cagganello) Tomer. He graduated from Harding High School and proudly served as a U.S. Army veteran.

Charlie was a longtime businessman and entrepreneur, owning and operating the Kimberly Inn Restaurant on Main Street in Trumbull for more than three decades. Following his retirement from the restaurant, he continued working as a school bus driver for the Trumbull Schools for another 20 years.

Charlie was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Whitney Farms Men's Golf Club. Charlie enjoyed taking the occasional trip to the local casinos to play poker, playing golf with his wife and friends, and most of all, spending time with his family.

For those who knew him best, his kindness and generosity were monumental and he valued family above all else.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Arlene (Kovalsky) Tomer; his children, Christine Wright and her husband Joe, and Edward Tomer and his wife Pamela; his grandchildren, Aly and Lauryn Wright and Carly and Presley Tomer; his sisters, Eleanor Adams and Genevieve Molgard; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may greet the family on Friday morning, August 14, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. At 12 noon a Memorial Service will be conducted and friends and family will have the opportunity to share memories about Charlie. Interment with Military Honors will be private.
