Obituary of Edward F. Vitka

Edward F. Vitka, age 84, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Friday July 3, 2026 surrounded by his loving family at the VA Medical Center, West Haven. He was the beloved husband of Wanita Murasky Vitka. Born in New York City on October 4, 1941, he was a son of the late Frank and Eva Banker Vitka. After attending Harding High School, he proudly served in the U.S. Army. Ed retired as a Construction Manager from SNET after a long career.

He was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Order, the Moose Lodge, Port 5, and FDIC.

In addition to his beloved wife Wanita of 63 years, other survivors include his devoted children, Christine Vitka, Kenneth (Mary) Vitka, Stephen (Barbara) Vitka and Richard (Kim) Vitka, his brother, Steve (Lenore) Vitka, his 7 grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason), Michael, Dannielle (Scott), Kylee, Samantha, Brianna, Jonathan, 6 great-grandchildren, Emma, Julianna, Mia, Kapri, Camden, and Hudson, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd, Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July, 10, 2026 at 9:00 am meeting directly in St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull with full military honors.
