Sincerest condolences to the family and many friends of Mr. Vitka. While I've only met Mr. Vitka in person a couple of times, I've been hearing comical stories involving Eddie Vitka my entire life. My father, John, worked with Mr. Vitka at SNET and they've stayed good friends in retirement. He will be missed.

I grew up next to Ed or MR Vitka as we called him. We always waved when riding buy his house on bikes and our bus stop was his corner so we would sit and talk to him. His grass was a big hobby of his and he was up watering it every morning as we awaited for the bus. In later years I would chat with him at the gym until one day he said the doctor told him to stop working out. Condolences to his family. He was a good man!

Ed was my neighbor for over 30 yrs. I always enjoyed our conversations. I am very sorry for your loss. We will keep him in our prayers.

I had the pleasure of knowing Ed through family gatherings and events. Ed was kind, caring, and was happy spending time with his family. In the earlier years, I enjoyed talking with Ed about his career with SNET. His stories made it fun and interesting to me growing in the same career too. Ed will be missed by many. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. I am very sorry for your loss.

Ed was such a wonderful next door neighbor! He never hesitated to loan me a tool... especially his electrical tape!! Several times he switched out our electrical outlets for new ones and installed a new one in our attic! I also used to enjoy walking over to his yard when we'd both be outside doing yardwork and we'd have not so serious discussions about everything under the sun including the best way to plant grass...get rid of weeds and we'd end by complaining about not getting enough rain to keep it from burning out!! I have a feeling Ed had something to do with that 5 1/2 inches of rain we got over 4th of July weekend!! Rest in peace, my wonderful neighbor and friend!!

My heart felt condolences to the Vitka family. I knew Ed since 1970 SNET, when he was in the line gang and I worked on the Bridgeport frame. We were in contact almost daily from 1981 when he was foreman of the line gang and I was in Engineering in the Stratford Garage. In the late 1990's we both retired from SNET and went to work for North East Optic Network in Massachusetts for a couple of years. Rest in peace my dear friend and coworker. Muffy Kelly

Chrissy, I’m so very sorry for your loss. I remember you planned a huge wedding anniversary party for your parents and spent hours putting together pictures.
